the pilates is real pilates.
The difference is what I'm watching for while you do it.
Say you're coming back from a shoulder injury. In a session with me you relearn how to reach overhead while keeping your core engaged and your breathing steady. That's what makes the progress hold up once you leave the studio.
Every age and ability is welcome, including people working around injuries and ongoing conditions.

I've been doing Pilates for over 30 years and working as an occupational therapist for more than 10. For a long time those were two separate things. Now they're the same job.
As an OT, my focus is getting people back to the everyday stuff they care about. Carrying groceries up the stairs. Picking up a grandkid. Getting through a workday without your back reminding you it's there. Pilates gives me the tools to build the strength and control behind all of that, and my OT training tells me where to start and what to leave alone for now.
I'm licensed and registered as an OT in Connecticut and certified in STOTT PILATES®. That's a contemporary method built on modern biomechanics, which in plain terms means every exercise can be modified to fit your body. Not the other way around.
