Nicole Pollock, OTR/L · STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor
I've been doing Pilates for over 30 years and working as an occupational therapist for more than 10. For a long time those were two separate things. Now they're the same job.
As an OT, my focus is getting people back to the everyday stuff they care about. Carrying groceries up the stairs. Picking up a grandkid. Getting through a workday without your back reminding you it's there. Pilates gives me the tools to build the strength and control behind all of that, and my OT training tells me where to start and what to leave alone for now.
I'm licensed and registered as an OT in Connecticut and certified in STOTT PILATES®. That's a contemporary method built on modern biomechanics, which in plain terms means every exercise can be modified to fit your body. Not the other way around.
The Pilates is real Pilates. The difference is what I'm watching for while you do it.
Say you're coming back from a shoulder injury. An OT would give you functional movements to rebuild what you lost. In a session with me you do those movements with Pilates principles built in, so you're relearning how to reach overhead while keeping your core engaged and your breathing steady. That's what makes the progress hold up once you leave the studio.
The bigger goal is that you understand your own body. Where you compensate, what your limits actually are and when it's fine to push past them. Some people call that somatic intelligence. I think of it as knowing how you move.
Every age and ability is welcome, including people working around injuries and ongoing conditions. That's what "where every body belongs" means.

I work fee for service. Cash, check or Venmo, and you can tap a card through Venmo.
I don't bill insurance directly. If you have an order from your doctor, I can give you a superbill. That's an itemized receipt you submit to your insurance yourself for possible reimbursement. Coverage depends on your plan, and the claim is yours to file and track.
This isn't medical advice. Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
The easiest way to start is a private session. Call, text or email me with a little about what's going on and what you want to work on.
